Early & Personal Life

• Rahul was born in Bangalore as K.N. It happened in the house of Lokesh and Rajeshwari. His father, Lokesh, originally from Cannanore, served as a professor and former director at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangalore. His mother Rajeshwari is a professor at Mangalore University. Lokesh, a fan of cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, wanted to name his son after Gavaskar’s son, but unknowingly he mistook Rohan Gavaskar’s name for Rahul. Rahul’s native language is Kannada.

• Raised in Mangalore, Rahul attended NITK English Medium School for his high school education and completed his pre – university studies at St. Aloysius College. His cricket journey started at the age of 10 when he started training. By the age of 12, he actively participated in the matches of both Bangalore United Cricket Club and his local club in Mangalore. At the age of 18, he moved to Bangalore to pursue higher education at Jain University to pursue his growing cricket career.

• On 23 January, 2023, Rahul tied the knot with his long-time partner, Indian actress Athiya Shetty, who is the daughter of famous actor Sunil Shetty.
